US 4,835,537 Telemetry burst collision avoidance system
An aircraft collision avoidance system providing warning and avoidance manuevers for all fixed and moving obstructions that threaten the safe navigation of the host aircraft. The system is effective against threatening aircraft, runway maintenance vehicles and prominent geographic obstructions such as radio towers and mountain peaks. It is an economical combination of basic telemetry equipment (transmitter/receiver) and current personal computer components configured to broadcast its host location and intended movement while simultaneously receiving the same information from all nearby similarly equipped stations, either air or ground. Maximum effectiveness is attained when data is available from the Global Positioning System but alternative sources of navigational information including dead reckoning are provided for. Althrough intended primarily for aviation use, the same technology and concepts are valid for the safe transit of ships and railway equipment.
US 5,351,194 Apparatus and method for closing flight plans and locating aircraftAn apparatus and method of canceling a flight plan of an aircraft to facilitate release of an IFR airspace to other aircraft and for communicating the location of a downed aircraft during emergencies. A controller receives and analyzes positioning signals transmitted from know locations to determine the location of the aircraft periodically. Upon arrival of the aircraft at its destination, the controller calls the air traffic controllers to cancel the flight plan. In the event of an emergency, the controller calls the air traffic control center to report the emergency and the location of the aircraft with high accuracy to improve search and rescue operations.
US 5,444,444 Apparatus and method of notifying a recipient of an unscheduled deliveryAn apparatus and method for notifying a party of a pending delivery or pickup of an item. A mobile vehicle or carrier is equipped with a satellite receiver, a controller and a communicator. The mobile vehicle determines its location based on positioning signals received by the satellite receiver. The controller compares the current location of the vehicle to the location of the party receiving the delivery/pickup. The communicator conditionally communicates with the party to notify the party of the pending delivery/pickup.
US 5,648,770 Apparatus and method of notifying a party of a pending delivery or pickupAn apparatus and method for notifying a party of a pending delivery or pickup of an item.
US 5,673,305 Apparatus and method for tracking and reporting the location of a motor vehicleAn apparatus and method of tracking and reporting the location of a mobile article, such as a stolen motor vehicle. A controller receives and analyzes positioning signals transmitted from known locations to determine the location of the motor vehicle. The controller contacts a central tracking station to report the theft and the location of the motor vehicle.
US 5,714,948 Satellite based aircraft traffic control systemA satellite based air traffic control (ATC) system includes an aircraft unit on an aircraft and an ATC facility. The aircraft unit includes an AARTS processor, GPS receivers or other satellite receivers, a comparator for comparing the GPS data, a two-way radio, and a transmitter and receiver for communicating information and data over a data link with the ATC facility. The ATC facility includes an ATC computer, a two-way radio, a display for displaying aircraft, and a transmitter and receiver for communicating information and data over the data link. The aircraft transmits aircraft identification information, GPS data, aircraft status information, and a transmit detect code to the ATC facility to allow the ATC to track the aircraft and identify the aircraft communicating on two-way radio. The traffic control system and a flight control system utilizing GPS may be used for aircraft in the air and on the ground, and may be used for ships, boats, automobiles, trains or railroads, and aircraft.
US 6,314,366 Satellite based collision avoidance systemThis invention provides a method and apparatus to provide coordinated evasive maneuver commands to aircraft to avoid collisions. More specifically, the invention comprises a GPS system to determined the location of aircraft, control logic to calculate evasive maneuvers, display aircraft tracking information, coordinate the evasive maneuver with the intruding aircraft, and give a synthetic voice warning and command to the pilots.
